The New BackBeat Pro 2 Is An Update To The Original BackBeat Pro

Plantronics cut the cord on the active noise cancelling headphones two years ago, and now it is back with the BackBeat PRO 2 to cut the price, too. Follow-up to well received BackBeat PRO of 2014, this revamped model slims down the hit on your wallet and space occupied in your bag. That is while still promising superlative wireless performance and have enough battery life for back-to-back transatlantic flights with juice to spare.

BackBeat PRO 2 Price:

The BackBeat Pro 2 is an update to original BackBeat Pro. It has all the same features — active noise cancelation, 24-hour battery life, over-ear design — but comes with a refined, and streamlined design. At $200, the BackBeat Pro 2 is considerably less expensive than the Bose QC35 or Beats Studio Wireless, yet provides a similar level of features as shown in vogatech.com (A special edition that also includes the NFC pairing and a special color is being sold for $250).

BackBeat PRO 2 Design:

The original BackBeat Pro had a large, and cumbersome design, which accommodated its sizable physical controls for volume and track skipping. This new model still has those physical buttons and switches, but its size has been trimmed down significantly. The earcups also have been switched to an oval design, which Plantronics says that fits more ears than the round cups in the previous model.

The control buttons, including a ring for adjusting volume levels, are on the left earcup, with a button that you can switch on to activate an open microphone mode which allows ambient noise into the headphone and lets you hear surroundings better.

BackBeat PRO 2 Features:

The BackBeat Pro 2 feature a number of key upgrades compared to the original BackBeat Pro headphones. They feel better, they look better, they feature better active noise-cancelling technology, and they also sound a little better despite packing the same audio components as the original model.

Another great feature is enabled by a very special capacitive sensor in the right cup of the BackBeat Pro 2 headphones. Thanks to this sensor, music is now automatically paused when you remove the headphones or simply lift the right cup away from your ear. If the headphones are connected to your cellphone when a call comes in, you can simply place the new BackBeat Pro 2 on your ears and the call will be answered.
