What Will You Do if Your Lovers is Robot?
June 25th 2008 17:30
The world has been changed drastically since the last few decades. Those things that seemed impossible to us in the past had turned into a reality nowadays.
Believed it or not, David Levy, the author of the book "Love sex with robots", had made a shocking prediction, that in about 40 years from now, human will have their loving relationship with “Robot”!
“I’m not talking about the robots without any feelings, but a lover robot. This type of robot has its own characteristics, emotions and personality. They can talk, making jokes and even say “I Love You” like real human being do!” David Levy said in his speech at an international conference, which held at the University of Maastrichtin, Netherlands last week.
Levy also predicted that the lover robots would be on sale within the next five years from now. However, he still considered this first type “lover robots” as a prototype, and its still need a long journey to go.
In other hands, the British scholar Dylan Evans has his own critic for Levy’s bombshell thesis. “Ok, assume your lover is a robot, but this can be totally boring to you here. Go figure, the robot can’t choose or reject your love, and this is what you call the ‘love’s life’? ” Said Evans in his own thought.
Although Levy’s facing lots of criticism after his speech, but he still convinced that the lover robot era will become a reality in the near future.
“Well, is only a matter of time, as time will be the best witnesses for it,” Said Levy.

Maybe the lover robot is the type like "Cyborg", which has all the characteristic, emotions and own personality like we do...

You are right: everything & anything is possible in the future.
If you had told me a few years ago that I could be directed to a destination in my car by a voice saying: "turn left in 500 metres" I would've said "no way!. How would the voice know where I wanted to go."
But I didn't know about GPS. (hey, it got me to far away tennis courts today!)
I read the article by Levy too, and thought straight away of Asimov and the need for robotic 'laws'. And then of Terminator.
May we live in interesting times.
(keep up the interesting articles and good work)

Yeah, in this 21st century when eveything changes rapidly, those thing that seems impossible will turn into possible, and this is only the matter of time...
Oh, you did install the GPS system in your car, right? Nice one, thought I will doing the same in the near future...
