December 15th 2008 19:09
Nowadays, our home was fully dominated with the latest electrical appliances, such as the finest Hi-Fi system, the 42” inch HD Plasma TV, portable DVD Player and so on…Well, and all these stuffs only have one purpose: Provide the greatest entertainment that can be compared with the cinema!

Talking about the DVD Player, have you ever heard about the “Blu-Ray Disc Players” before? For your information, Blu-Ray Disc is an optical disc storage medium and it’s mainly use for the high-definition video and data storage. Blu-Ray got its name from the “blue laser” where the beam (405 nanometer) is much shorter than the red laser (650 nanometer). Do you know that a two-layer Blu-Ray Disc can store up to 50 GB of data, where it’s 10.6 times of a single-layer DVD Disc?

About the history of Blu-Ray Disc, the first DVR Blue Prototypes were been demonstrated at the CEATEC exhibition in October 2000. However, the first prototype cannot withstand to any scratches and it had to be enclosed in plastic cartridges for protection. The first consumer Blu-Ray devices was released on April 10, 2003 and this device was the Sony BDZ-S77. The retail price at that moment is very costly, as the consumers need to pay $3,800 for it!

Due to the large capacity and high definition, some experts predicted that Blu-Ray players would soon become a popular item in many household.

My friend, Tony, has just bought a new Philips Blu-Ray Players three days ago...

To be honest, at the very beginning, he was a little bit skeptical about the player, but after a few days of testing, he found out that the Blu-Ray Disc Player is hundred times better than his old-fashioned DVD player is! With the 108p/24 playback, JPEG photo playback and progressive scanning features, making Tony loved this little buddy more than his was expected!

He told me that with the ultra large 50GB or up to 400GB of Blu-Ray Discs, now he could enjoy more quality times with his family watching to their favorite movies…

I think the popularity of Blu-ray will grow as soon as the discs themselves become more affordable.
