The Basic Facts about Semiconductor That We All Should Know!

July 13th 2009 10:10
We’re only human and that’s why, we always making mistakes in our life. Instead of a high school counselor and gadgets fan, I’m also spending most of my time doing some electronics projects as well!

After fourteen years in the computer and electronics fields, I’ve learned many useful knowledge, from the software to the hardware parts. Today, I’m going to explain the definition of semiconductor and its usage in the computer/electronics world!

Basically, a semiconductor is a simple device, which has a resistivity value between a conductor and an insulator. Nowadays, the modern electronics, such as radio, telephone, computer, television and many other devices are made from semiconductor materials. The semiconductor chip created with silicon, as this element has the ability to resist the changes between the conductor and insulator!

Amongst the different types of semiconductors, the ECG semiconductors are my favorite type. Why? ECG semiconductor is the universal replacement semiconductors, which is allowing me to replace any type of broken semiconductor without any hassle!

However, it’s not easy to find the proper ECG semiconductor, even in the electronics shop, especially the obsolete semiconductors type!

For overcoming the above matter, I usually search the online electronics shops and browse through their semiconductor catalog. By using this method, I’m not only found what I need, but saving up more money in my wallet as well, as I don’t need to travel to the local electronics shop and return home with empty hands anymore!

By the way, I heard a brand new information from my friend, Anthony who is also an electronic hobbyist that the semiconductor is now going into the nano-sized stage. This means, the semiconductors are in atomic scale, by around the year 2019 or sooner!

2019 seems a long way to go, why is it necessary to have the 'in between' of a conductor and insulator, or did I miss something here, Wilson?

Yep, there's at least 10 more years, before the nano-sized semiconductors are released. Hmm..., I've checked the article and didn't found what you're mentioned here, Katyzzz. Maybe, it's a small misreading here or...?
