Synology Revealed A New Compact Server RackStation RS816

Synology released RackStation RS816, a 1U 4-bay rackmount server specially designed for growing businesses and small offices. RS816 offers flexible scalability up to 8 drives for up to 64TB in total raw storage capacity with Synology RX415 expansion unit while delivering the advanced computing capability and robust application suite. The list of supported array configuration includes Synology Hybrid RAID, Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10.

The RS816 server uses dual-core Marvell Armada 385 88F6820 and clocked at 1.8 GHz. The volume of DDR3 RAM is 1 GB. Declared maximum reading speed – 148 MB / s, recording – 81 MB / s, which provides a 142 percent increase in productivity when writing protected files as compared to the previous generation of servers specified in the company. The server is equipped with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports and one port eSATA. The server is running a dedicated DiskStation Manager operating system (DSM). Its size – 44 x 430,5 x 290 mm, weight – 4.34 kg.

“In addition to speed, RS816 is compact and scalable, allowing the rack-mounted server to easily adapt to rapidly changing business conditions, without the need for special efforts to adapt to changing scenarios and requirements to the size of memory”, – explained Jason Feng (Jason Fan ), product manager at Synology.

RS816 running DiskStation Manager (DSM) – an intuitive operating system with a broad spectrum of applications for home and personal use.

According to the company, RS816 server is now available for shipment worldwide.
